WICU Prepared to Assist Members
February 24, 2010
Given the current state of the economy and the cash flow problems directly related to the economy, Western Illinois Credit Union (WICU) is poised to assist its members during these critical times.
“We want our members to know we will be there to help them if there is a problem,” said WICU President Brenda Coker. “We do not want to alarm our members; we only want to let them know we are prepared to help them.”
If the nation’s fiscal situation worsens and members are in need of a short-term loan to meet their monthly financial obligations, or if there are other financial necessities, they should contact WICU to schedule a meeting to discuss the opportunities available for assistance.
Chartered in 1959, Western Illinois Credit Union originally served only Western Illinois University faculty and staff. This changed in 1984 when membership was expanded to include all employees of the McDonough County School system. The latest expansion in 2005 allowed membership for both current and former employees, current and former WIU students and current and former employees of First Student (formerly Laidlaw). Immediate family members including parents, children and siblings may also join with the qualified member.
Savings accounts at WICU are federally insured up to $250,000.00 by the National Credit Union Administration , a federal agency, and backed by the full faith and credit of the United States Government.
For more information about membership or to discuss loan options and other services, call (309)298-2986. We want to be there when you need us.
